Promote Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in the Workplace
Updates to our Supervisory Management Certificate
The UW-Eau Claire EDI Strategic Plan is a commitment that we make for ourselves — and for the entire campus — to help make our university community more equitable, diverse, and inclusive. Continuing Education is dedicated to communicating our EDI values and priorities through our programs and to cultivating a culture of inclusivity.
Supervisors must be leaders in the ongoing work of fostering EDI in the workplace. An equitable, diverse, and inclusive workforce is vital to the success of every organization.
- Diverse and inclusive organizations motivate employees to give their best. A positive company culture that values contributions from a wide range of demographics and backgrounds helps employees thrive and contribute to the success of the organization.
- Diverse workplaces attract and retain employees. According to a 2020 Glassdoor survey, 76 percent of job seekers and employees polled said a diverse workforce was an important factor for them when evaluating job opportunities and companies.
- Diversity can enhance revenue. A Boston Consulting Group study found that companies with more diverse management teams have 19% higher revenues due to innovation.
The Supervisory Management Certificate Program (SMCP) classes have been updated to integrate EDI into program content. Classes in the program include EDI training that is relevant to you in your role as a supervisor. Instructors will lead discussions that reflect on diversity and inclusion and will provide strategies to help you value, engage, and motivate your team.
Improve your ability to be a leader who helps cultivate an equitable and inclusive work environment. Increase your awareness and knowledge and discover how you can move EDI forward in your organization. Learn more at an upcoming Supervisory Management class.
