 Build a Strong Financial Foundation

The Nonprofit Finance Fund's State of the Sector Report indicates that more than 50% of nonprofits consider navigating financial regulations one of their major operational challenges. This workshop will focus on how to effectively manage a financial system within a nonprofit organization. Participants will examine key financial components that promote transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability.

Key topics will include budgeting for nonprofit organizations, maintaining internal controls, and establishing accounting and financial policies and procedures. The session will also address how to prepare nonprofit financial statements, discuss recent accounting and tax issues affecting nonprofits, and explain the role of independent certified public accountants and the audit process.

Earn a Digital Badge

Complete all four courses within two years, and you will be awarded the Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Completion Badge. This badge will showcase your advanced expertise in nonprofit leadership.

  • Headshot of instructor Dawn Yarrington

    Dawn Yarrington is a signing director in the Eau Claire office of CLA. Dawn has 25 years of experience in the accounting profession, specializing in nonprofit organizations and subsidized residential rental housing (including HUD and Rural Development projects). Dawn is a past president of the Board of Directors with Big Brothers Big Sister of Northwestern Wisconsin. Dawn also serves on the Education Committee for the Eau Claire Community Foundation Women's Giving Circle.

    Samantha Kjelstad is a CAAS Principal leading the West Central WI Nonprofit team in the CliftonLarsonAllen Eau Claire, WI office. Sam has over 12 years of experience in the accounting profession serving nonprofit organizations. Sam is also on the Finance Committee and Regional Board of Directors with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin.

CEU Information

Participants will earn 0.6 Continuing Education Units ( 6 Contact Hours) upon completion of this program.

We understand life happens. Should you need to cancel your registration, you may substitute someone to take your place, at any time, at no cost to you. If we cancel a program, we’ll give you your money back.

If your program is 14 or more days away:
You may transfer once to any currently available program – no charge!
If you have to cancel, you will receive a refund, minus a 20% administrative fee.

If your program is less than 14 days away:
You may transfer once to any currently available program, plus a 20% transfer fee.
If you cancel, you will not receive a refund.

If you are registered and do not attend the program, you are responsible for the full fee.
